Milwaukee Community Brainstorming: The Direction of Law Enforcement in Milwaukee
About Milwaukee Community Brainstorming
Community Brainstorming Conference and its now well-known and very highly regarded “Fourth Saturday Breakfast Forums,” conceived and operationalized. CBC takes great pride in its openness, the integrity of its programming, its “James Howard Baker Award” and the empirical fact that through August 2012 it will have held 318 consecutive breakfast forums, with over 50,000 participants. Thus, CBC has been able to realize one of its fundamental, animating purposes; namely, a continuous drawing together of the visible and voiced and the invisible and voiceless in the community, for the sake of advancing the interests and good of African Americans in particular, and the city in general.

June 22, 2019, today CBS forum was pretty interesting. However, for over two decades there’s been talk about the hardships faced in Milwaukee’s African American communities. Although, communication is valuable at what point do we stop talking and start doing?
Needless to say, It’s pretty obvious laws don’t change the hearts of men.
Milwaukee is the tale of two cities, there’s the white perspective “Our blacks are fine.” On the hand there’s the black perspective “We live in a city ran by racists, who could care less.”
I am a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I grew up on Burleigh street. Needless to say, our community was once a peaceful and loving community.
Until the following:
Social welfare systems cattled in folks from Chicago, Racine, and other surrounding areas.
Foreign owned businesses ran local African Americans out of business
More liquor stores popped up on every corner
Chicago gangs showed up in numbers [drugs, an increase in crime, and gang activities]
Increasing rate of recidivism
Systematic injustice and the flourishing ignorance of racism
Lead based water [causing cognitive development issues] within our babies and youth
Medical drug dealers start medicating our children with the falsehood of ADHD [drugs]
CREATING HELL IN OUR COMMUNITY
The social welfare migration, foreign owned business owners, increasing number of liquor stores, massive incarceration, and piss poor politics; absent of concerned constituents has brought the African American Natives of Milwaukee nothing but terror.
All things considered, I often wonder, “What if Wisconsin discontinued all social welfare programs for relocators and foreign owned businesses were required to offer employment to those within the communities they seek to do business in?
In addition, what about limiting the number of liquor distributor(s) to one to two retailers within a 15 mile radius of one another; along with sales hours between noon – 8pm.
The reconstruction and disporitionated affairs in Milwaukee’s African American communities has its merits and perceived value for all people no matter race, gender, skin tone, height, religion, political agenda, economic status, age, ring size, popularity, fraternity, sorority, clique, or whatever difference one may declare.
Operation: Natives Standing In Solidarity
The Restoration Project
I would raise my hand, offer my time, and place my feet on the grounds daily to bring about awareness. In closing, the change for African American, natives of Milwaukee can only be discovered, when we are willing to disrupt the norm and try something different.
