While Self Care is now more popular and accepting, many people struggle with the how and why. Introducing you to Noni Ayana, M.ed. She found the hardest part about building her business was, “the lack of understanding in the value and necessity for self care.” For those of you who still are struggling with this notion…meet Noni Ayana and the resources she offers in changing the narrative on self care.
If Noni could have anything it would be complete inner peace. Explains so much about what she has created!
E.R.I.S. is a consulting company that specializes in providing expert knowledge on how to navigate self expression and life experiences by exploring realness, individualism, and self care. Noni created her business to allow free expression. “Due to living in a world where social conformity seems to be more valued than individualism, I felt it was important to create and offer a support system that allows for growth in autonomy, authenticity, and self-agency.”
About the Owner:
Noni Ayana is a sexologist, sexuality educator, and certified holistic practitioner with a background in mental health.
She earned a Bachelors of Science in psychology from Kennesaw State University, and a Masters of Education from Widener University’s Center for Human Sexuality Studies; the only fully accredited university offering a doctoral program in human sexuality studies, in which she is currently a participant.
Expertise and Experience are the words that come to mind as you learn about all the ways Noni has gained her knowledge. With 10 years of experience in both sexology and mental health,
Masters of Education (Sexuality),
Bachelors of Science in Psychology,
Certification in Reiki I, II, & Master
Certification in the art of Tibetan Bowl Singing…what more is there left to say. Shhhh! I was an exotic dancer for about 6 years. So you know she understands and practice what she preaches!
Being in business the last 2 years Noni has found these 3 things beneficial to business owners,
“1. Find a way to practice or prepare for what you do every day.
2. Always have a plan
3. Be kind to yourself”
The theme of self care, self love, and self growth all practice compassion and like Noni mentions “be kind to yourself.” Learning the lessons life gives, Noni offers this advice to her 20 year old self, “Continue to live in your truth. Your life is only yours to live.” Her quote, “Date as if you’re making a new friend, not meeting a potential spouse.” is also apart of self care. Be compassionate, stop trying to rush it all, and do things that make you feel good, forget obligations!
I asked Noni the following to give us an even more personal glimpse into her world and daily practice,
What do you do to keep a healthy mental health?
Create boundaries for myself, and anyone that resides in my personal space.
What brings your peace?
How do you deal with challenges?
Through a process that involves not making decisions in haste, but being more mindful of my emotions, and reacting from a state of pure self awareness.
How do you deal with grief?
One step at a time.
What is your favorite part and worst part of what you do?
My favorite part about what I do is helping people become more self aware. My least favorite part about what I do is having to navigate inaccurate assumptions and negative stigmas about human sexuality and sexology work.
Noni was asked to finish this thought…I am inspired by…
“people that strive to be the best version of themselves.”
From Noni: “I am intentionally changing the narrative by showing clients how sexuality is an undeniable aspect of humanity and is interwoven in just about everything we do as human beings.”
