Join Rena on her journey exploring the wonders of Brooklyn
A Brooklyn Moment
After a month of traveling across three continents and walking the boardwalks in several cities I’m back in Brooklyn and back to my beloved Brighton Beach-Coney island boardwalk.
If you want to see true diversity , a New York melting pot join me in Brighton. What a beautiful mix of humanity. Russians, Asians,Hispanics African Americans Caucasians and others.
Everyday at 6 am you can find me there. I’ve formed a brotherhood , a club of nameless strangers who pass each other daily and we smile or high five and take note of who’s missing and hope they are well. I’ve given them names and created bios for them. I’m fascinated with Juan. A muscular tattooed man either a trainer or a therapist who brings Josie in a wheelchair and stands her up holding on to the railing and teaches her to walk. I’ve decided Josie, due to an accident is disabled. I watch her progress and smile and give her a thumbs up. However, nothing prepared me for our reunion. Josie was walking on her own. I ran over hugged them both and cheered and cried and unbelievably the entire club applauded. We all then continued on our way nameless strangers yet a brotherhood. Yes folks that’s my Brooklyn moment!!!
