Tressa “Azarel” Smallwood aka “CEOAzarel” turns her book into a Block Buster Movie on screens across America. This retired school teacher wears many hats but still maintain her passion for educating children and empowering the young people lives.
It all started after being bedridden during her pregnancy, and she decided to write her first book “ A Life to Remember.” Within two months after writing her first book, A Life to Remember she raked in over 40K in sales.
Holding a Master’s Degree along with tons of educational accolades, she retired her teaching tenure as a school teacher to pursue her dream of becoming an entrepreneur. In just two short years, Tressa launched her publishing company “Life Changing Books” LBC which is one of the most sought after African-American publishing companies in today’s industry.
Being on the New York Times and Essence Magazine list was no small task and Tressa humbly is grateful for the opportunity. However, she was just getting started. Ownership of LCB was not enough for Tressa, her drive for entrepreneurship for others increased. So her passion for empowering young people lives and women became her next passion.
Women are helping other women in the publishing world, and TressaVIPClub launched. TressaVIPClub is for women who desires to build a Publishing Empire. Tressa unselfishly wants to see women succeed in the publishing world and strengthen their publishing empires.
Life Changing Books, a multi-million dollar publishing house, and worldwide distributor, is one of the most successful independent publishing companies in the publishing industry, with over 2,000 consulted and signed authors and publishers, and 141 books published to date.
What’s next for Tressa? How about a film company that produces movies that she is the co-founder of MegaMind Media. The first movie under MegaMind Media” debut SECRETS adapted from the J. Tremble novel Secrets of a Housewife was released in 2016 and was Featured Narrative Film at the American Black Film Festival (ABFF).
Tressa completed her second movie Born In The Game set to film in May 2017. She is always learning, and this time she believes her film will be at the Sundance Film Festival.
When she is not teaching others how to write and publish or reviewing scripts for her promising film catalog Tressa is mentoring girls ages 10-17 on becoming self-starters and leaders through her program, Be The Boss Entrepreneurial Program through the TressaVIPClub. She resides in the DMV area with her family.
Tressa’s advice is to entrepreneurs is stop procrastinating. There’s always going to be something that will come up, that will give you that out to say, ‘oh not right now.’ I’ll wait until my kids graduate high school, oh I’ll wait until summer comes, or I’ll wait until my Zumba class ends. There’s always going to be something. So stop procrastinating because you can do this. It’s no better time than now to become an entrepreneur.
Being one of Tressa’s VIP club members, she teaches us that everything that you need, every resource is right there. Have no fear, and just go for it. Most importantly “Be Grateful.”
Tressa is the Award Winning Publisher of Life Changing Books INC, co-founder of MegaMind Media, a movie producer, author, and speaker.
