Women Helping Women
A famous quote by Dalai Lama – “The World Will Be Saved By the Western Woman” was delivered during the Vancouver Peace Summit 2009, which opened on the morning of Sunday, September 27th.
In 2017, women are influencers in the marketplace and media more than ever before. In June 2017, the movie “Wonder Woman” with a female director and female leading actress transcended box office expectations worldwide and expected to be one of the top grossing movies directed by a female in history.
Also in June 2017, an everyday woman, Wanda Durant, lovingly known as The Real MVP. She is the mother of NBA MVP Kevin Durant of the Golden State Warrior NBA Champions of 2017 is becoming a highly recognized name in the National Basketball Association according to media outlets in the NBA world for raising a warrior.
At the age of 18, Wanda became a teenage mother giving birth to Anthony. After marrying his father, Wanda, now just 21, gave birth to Kevin. Before Kevin’s first birthday, Wanda became a single mother. From that point, she decided to trust God and know that her decisions to raise her sons had to be aggressive. She dedicated her life to her children’s formative years, ultimately sacrificing her own aspirations to ensure a sound basis for her their future.
Needless to say, Wanda raised a warrior son by the name of Kevin Durant. Her assertiveness built his character with her sons. Wanda’s restlessness provided the ability for them to rise and be men of honor. Wanda was intentional on how she would break the cycle of them being raised by the federal government. She provided the gateway for them to become successful businessmen that would give opportunities for youth across the globe by reaching back and serving others who walked in their shoes.
Last but not least she is the Rock of the family. Wanda rarely missed Kevin Durant games even before he became MVP for the Golden State Warriors. She is the western woman for single mothers raising children without a father. Women Helping Women is her passion.
Today, Wanda is an inspirational speaker, who propels women, single mothers, and children to follow their dreams and set life goals. Sharing her upbeat message of empowerment with faith-based organizations, corporations, non-profit organizations, community events, and youth groups. She also serves as a host of several events across the country.
It is Wanda’s passion to guide her audience to realize that hope is alive inside of them, encourage them to dream, and help them actually to believe they can achieve the future they want.
As a businesswoman and champion of many causes, Wanda lends support to The Kevin Durant Charity Foundation; The Tony Durant Reach Higher Foundation, Community Kinship Coalition, Single Parents Network, Baller Moms, Positive Tomorrows, amongst others.
