With unemployment at a record high back in the early 90’s, finding a good paying job was a challenge especially growing up in the projects of New York, let alone being a single mother
Lucinda Cross was determined to live a purposeful life in spite of the mistake she made when she was an 18-year-old college student.
That mistake cost her near five years of her life. A mistake she had to pay for with a five-year sentence in Federal Prison for Laundering contraband for a Nigerian drug cartel.
While serving time, Lucinda Cross was committed to up level her life once she was out. Serving her sentence, she began listening to motivational speakers like Tony Robbins and Les Brown. Lucinda was determined once out that she will take control of her life and be the best version of herself by not ever becoming a statistic.
When she got out of federal prison, she discovered that someone with a prison record couldn’t open up a daycare let alone get a decent job. So Lucinda created her own path after many doors closed and people told her no. Lucinda never gave up.
Despite her setback in life, Lucinda Cross has moved forward encouraging others by mentoring, connecting, and teaching from her personal life experience. She started her own company and became a best-selling author. One of Lucinda’s books is THE ROAD TO REDEMPTION is a story of overcoming and a high level of endurance. Lucinda Cross relates to her readers that your path to success is about facing life’s adversity with faith and courage.
Lucinda believes in the power of pictures and one day she had two visions that did not materialize after she got out in 2000. She recalls someone with a prison record can’t open up a day care,” it turns out — the others did. A degree from Mercy College: Done. A job as a patient-relations coordinator at a hospital: Done.
That vision has served her well, and the power of vision boards helped her startup of her life-coaching brand, Activate Your Life Today! The primary component of Cross’ philosophy is the vision board, a cardboard poster populated with pictures, words, and images of what the person is making it wants to manifest in her own life. It specializes in personal and professional development programs for women and at-risk youth. She hosts workshops around the country and an annual Activate! conference. (Former “The View” co-host Sherri Shepherd and actress Keke Palmer participated in the most recent one.)
Today, Lucinda Cross as mentored coached and trained women around the world. Lucinda helps people develop their weaknesses and encourage their strengths,” she said. “I will ask a woman to go through her past and discover what she liked to do as a little girl. Often when women open up, they tap into a burning desire that they never knew was inside. What you have is so much greater because it’s you and your truth.
Lucinda also hosts empowerment sessions across the country, been featured on virtually every major television network, Dr. OZ, and many national media outlets from Huffington Post to “The Tom Joyner Morning Show.” Nevertheless, at this point in her life, she admits she’s more concerned with convincing women to collaborate and create together.
She is currently the CEO of Activate Worldwide. Activate 2K17 is about connecting to those power brokers that can open doors to opportunity. They know who to contact for financing, support, and resources.
This is the last year for Activate 2K17 salutes and celebrates the next generation of women and men leveraging their brilliance to build fortunes and change their portion of the world.
The venue is the Biltmore Hotel and Resort in Miami, Florida September 14 – 17, 2017
Make no mistake; this is not the last time you will see Lucinda Cross. She is busy with her newly established International Association of Platform Builders, which will offer courses and opportunities for people to share their voices, build better businesses, and stand out.
