EXPOSE YOUR THOUGHTS: Artist sent us a response to our Atlantic Records Scandal post

Philadelphia DJ/Artist Rob Riley responded to our posting about Atlantic Records accusations of underpaying their producers by retitling there albums. Here is what he had to say.

We have to assume responsibility in terms of learning the business of what we do. It is tough, and it takes a bit to get used to, but very essential to succeeding. As a mentor told me, it is ok to ask questions before signing anything. If you are dealing with a heavyweight company, you can be duped  into signing something you don’t have the financial muscle to fight, and they knew it when they drew the contract up.

Chill, take a breath, stay even keeled no matter how excited you are. There is a difference between being hungry and being thirsty.

Trump Tweets About an ‘Insecure’ and ‘Biased’ Oprah Winfrey Over Her ’60 Minutes’ Segment

Donald Trump venting over the FBI and the Russia investigation took to Twitter on Sunday night in a tweetstorm attack on Oprah Winfrey following her “60 Minutes” segment on America’s political divide. Despite his denial of spending time watching television, his response to Winfrey stated otherwise.

“Just watched a very insecure Oprah Winfrey, who at one point I knew very well, interview a panel of people on 60 Minutes,” tweeted Trump, “The questions were biased and slanted, the facts incorrect. Hope Oprah runs so she can be exposed and defeated just like all of the others!”

Winfrey’s report followed up her September segment featuring the same panel of Trump voters and non-Trump voters in the battleground state of Michigan. The goal of the segment was to understand their thoughts on his presidency and direction of the country one year after he took office.

In the wake of Winfrey’s historic #MeToo speech during the Golden Globes in January, an #Oprah2020 movement took root, with many stars – including Meryl Streep and Steven Spielberg – calling on Winfrey to consider running. Days later, Trump addressed the speculation, telling the press, “Yeah, I’ll beat Oprah.”

In 1999, Trump thought Winfrey would be a good running mate.  At the time Trump said: “I know her very well. You know, I did one of her last shows. She had Donald Trump – this was before politics – her last week, and she had Donald Trump and my family. It was very nice.”

Oprah Winfrey, despite earlier rumors of a presidential bid, has been clear that she has no intention of running for president.  Making it clear on her intentions she said in a 60 Minutes overtime clip separate from Sunday’s report. “If God actually wanted me to run, wouldn’t God kind of tell me?”

'Black Panther' Is On A Rampage...A Must See

Cedric Nettles/Entertainment Editor

Yes I saw it, and I was floored by every aspect of Marvel’s Black Panther. It is a must see in terms of amazing special effects, casting, and screenplay. It is also a  must see in terms of what it had to say about black history and how there are conflicts within black culture that has to stay in the discussion. You will have to see the movie and you will understand…I promise. Your kids will see this and be mesmerized because it is so different from anything that has came out in a long time. Enjoy the ride everyone.

UPDATED, Monday AM writethru after 12:05 AM post: Disney has verified this morning what we saw in the middle of the night, that T’Challa recorded the second-best Sunday ever at the domestic box office. Its $60.1 million (higher than the industry’s $59.55M estimate last night) ranks only behind the all-time record held by Disney/Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($60.5M on December 20, 2015). The total now pushes Black Panther to a three-day total of $201.8M, still the fifth-best domestic opening of all time after 2012’s Avengers ($207.4M).-Deadline.com
