Oprah Winfrey brought the Golden Globes audience to their feet with a powerful speech during Sunday’s Golden Globes Awards while calling out sexual harassers around the globe: “Their time is up.”

Winfrey won the Cecil B. DeMille award for lifetime achievement at this year’s Golden Globes. During her speech, Winfrey recalled watching Sidney Poitier win at the Golden Globes for 1964’s Lilies of the Field and how it was the first time she saw a black man celebrated on television. “It’s not lost on me that at this moment, there are little girls watching as I become the first black woman to receive this award,” Winfrey said.

Sterling K. Brown Makes Golden Globes History With His Best Actor in a TV Drama Win

“This Is Us” star Sterling K. Brown took home the award for best actor in a drama television series at the Golden Globes on Sunday, and in the process, gave a shout-out to the creator of the NBC series, Dan Fogelman, for writing an inclusive role. His win marks the first time an African-American actor has won in the category.

“You wrote a role for a black man, that could only be played by a black man,” he said to Fogelman, who was in the audience. “And so, what I appreciate so much about this is that I’m being seen for who I am, and being appreciated for who I am. And it makes it that much more difficult to dismiss me or dismiss anybody who looks like me. So thank you, Dan.”

Brown’s history-making moment comes after he made history by becoming the first black actor in two decades to win an Emmy for best actor in a drama series for the same role as Randall Pearson, a black child who’s adopted by the Pearsons, who are white.

The This Is Us star beat out Jason Bateman (Ozark), Freddie Highmore (The Good Doctor), Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) and Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan).

Brown accepted his much-deserved Golden Globe with a powerful acceptance speech at the 2018 Golden Globes for Best Actor in a TV Drama—itself history-making.

It was his first Golden Globe win, and the first time Brown was nominated at the awards for This Is Us.”  Brown was previously nominated at last year’s Globes for The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.
